“Rock Your Roots” – Walk for Reconciliation

The annual Rock Your Roots: Walk for Reconciliation takes place this year on Friday, June 20, one day before National Indigenous Peoples Day.

The walk honours Residential School Survivors and invites the community to attend and demonstrate their commitment to Truth and Reconciliation. “Rock your roots” by wearing the cultural clothing of your ancestors or carrying your nation’s flag or wearing orange to honour the survivors.

The Friday, June 20 event starts at Victoria Park, 606 Spadina Cresent West in Saskatoon, at 10 a.m. with participants assembling for the walk, which begins at 10:30 a.m. on a 40-60-minute route along the river. Performers along the way will showcase culture, inclusion and diversity. The walk ends at about 11:45am at “Reconciliation Circle” in Victoria Park, followed by a grand entry, a program and activities held from noon to 3 p.m.
