Solidarity with Ukraine – local events

February 22 February 24

Four local organizations host events Feb. 22-24 in Saskatoon to stand in solidarity with Ukraine on third anniversary of Russian invasion:

CAR RALLYOn Saturday, February 22, the Ukrainian Canadian Congress – Saskatoon Branch will organize a Car Rally for Ukraine. The rally will begin at 1:00 PM Saturday, Feb. 22 at Bethlehem Catholic High School (110 Bowlt Crescent) and will proceed through the city, concluding at 2:30 PM at the Ukrainian Museum of Canada, 910 Spadina Cr. East for a reception and program featuring Lee Reaney, Editor of Lviv Today. The rally serves as a visible demonstration of ongoing support for Ukraine and its fight for sovereignty and freedom.

MUSEUM EXHIBITOn Sunday, Feb. 23, the Musée Ukraina Museum, 222 Avenue M South, Saskatoon, will host the opening of the exhibition “Destroyed Temples of Ukraine,” presented in partnership with Kyiv’s Maidan Museum from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, offering a poignant look at the destruction of Ukraine’s sacred architecture and cultural heritage.

VIGIL – On Monday, Feb. 24, two groups — the Prairie Centre for the Study of Ukrainian Heritage and the University of Saskatchewan Ukrainian Students’ Association — will host a 12:30 p.m. vigil Monday, Feb. 24 at St. Thomas More College Chapel, 1437 College Drive, Saskatoon, as a time of reflection and remembrance.

COME and GO GATHERING and EXHIBIT – On Monday, Feb. 24, the Ukrainian Museum of Canada, 910 Spadina Crescent East, Saskatoon, will hold a come-and-go gathering from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 24, to view exhibit on “The War That Changes Everything” (including tea, refreshments, and community fellowship).
