Domestic Violence presentation

March 10 @ 7:00 pm 9:00 pm

Domestic Violence Speaker – Did you know that Saskatchewan has the highest rate of police calls for domestic abuse of all the provinces, at twice the national average?

Mark your calendars for 7 p.m. Monday, March 10, to hear guest speaker Joan McDonald speak to the Catholic Women’s League at St. John Bosco Church, 1202 Avenue O South, Saskatoon about the prevalence and dangers of domestic abuse.

Joan McDonald is a wife, mother and grandmother who recently retired from her administrative career with the Saskatchewan Health Authority. Her daughter, Abbie Speir, was a victim of domestic homicide in April 2017. Invested in changing that story for others, Joan began speaking to workplaces, schools and community groups and events. Her mission is to raise awareness about domestic abuse and provide education about resources that are available to assist victims. Breaking the silence and arming ourselves with simple information will change and save lives. Everyone is welcome. Admission is free but the CWL council is encouraging donations of a personal care items which will be donated to a women’s shelter (shampoo, soap, lotion, etc).
