Announcements for Sunday, Jan. 25 – Third Sunday of Ordinary Time (Reverence for Life Sunday)

Diocesan Bulletin (2-page insert) PDF

* Diocesan prayer – REVERENCE FOR LIFE 2026

Almighty God, giver of all that is good, we thank you for the precious gift of human life: For life in the womb, coming from your creative power, for the life of children, making us glad with their freshness and promise, for the life of young people, hoping for a better world, for the life of people who are disabled, teaching us that every life has value, for the life of the elderly, witnessing to the ageless values of patience and wisdom. Like Blessed Mary, may we always say “yes” to Your gift. Help us to realize the sacredness of human life and to respect and cherish it from conception to its natural end. And bring us at last, O Father, to the fullness of eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord.

EARTHCARE Connections (Prayer intentions from Farmland Legacies)

  1. May we walk in the light of wisdom which enables us to see what Earth needs to survive and thrive. We pray to the Lord.
  2. For the success of Farmland Legacies which holds farmland in sacred trust. We pray to the Lord.

* World Day for Consecrated Life – Each year, on the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord in the Temple – also known as ‘Candlemas’ – the Church celebrates the World Day for Consecrated Life, offering a space to recognize the gift of consecrated life and the many ways it enriches the life and mission of the Church across the world. A celebration will take place in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Saskatoon with Mass at 12:15 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 2, at the Cathedral of the Holy Family, followed by a light lunch (Mass will also be live-streamed at https://saskatoonmass.com.). Please pray for all those who have made commitments in the consecrated life, and thank them on their special day. May they continue to be inspired by Jesus Christ and respond generously to God’s gift of their vocation. The blessing of the candles remind us and renew in each of us the vows of our baptism to be the light in the world.

St. John Paul II urged consecrated persons to ‘be true experts of communion and to practice the spirituality of communion” (Vita consecrata, n. 46). Pope Francis, drawing inspiration from St. Francis, founder and inspirer of so many institutes of consecrated life, broadens the perspective and invites us to be architects of universal brotherhood, custodians of the common home: of the earth and every creature…(Letter from CICSAL, 2021) In a radical and courageous way women and men who consecrate their lives entirely to Christ show to the world a glimpse of the life of heaven to come and the joy of the vision of God.

It is designated to allow space for reflection and recognition of the intimate presence of Christ who comes to us through scripture and the Eucharist. * Synod on Synodality: Implementing a SYNODAL WAY of Proclaiming Christ and God’s Kingdom Today – Synod Implementation in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Saskatoon was recently launched by Bishop Hagemoen.

“Creation itself speaks of unity and sharing, of diversity and of variously interconnected forms of life. Everything stems from and tends towards harmony, even while being devastated by evil. The ultimate meaning of  synodality is the witness that the Church is called to give to God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, the harmony of love that pours Himself out, to give Himself to the world. We can live the communion that saves by walking in a synodal way, in the intertwining of our vocations, charisms and ministries, by going forth to meet everyone in order to bring the joy of the Gospel: communion with God, with the entire humanity and all of creation. In this way, thanks to this sharing, we have already begun to experience the banquet of life that God offers to all peoples.” – For a Synodal Church: Communion, Participation, Mission; Final Document #154
