Bishop Hagemoen announces pastoral appointments

Bishop Mark Hagemoen recently announced a number of pastoral appointments, special assignments and priest/seminarian updates in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Saskatoon. The appointments are effective July 24, 2018, unless otherwise indicated.

“Please offer a warm welcome to the priests joining our diocese as you have the opportunity to meet them, and remember them all in your prayers,” said the bishop.


Fr. Ephraim Mensah, Pastor at the Cathedral of the Holy Family, Saskatoon:   Fr. Ephraim has served at St. Philip Neri parish in Saskatoon this past year, since returning from his sabbatical. Before that he served at several parishes in the Diocese of Saskatoon.


 Fr. Stefano Penna, Pastor at St. Paul’s Co-Cathedral, Saskatoon: Fr. Stefano, a priest of the Diocese of  Saskatoon, previously served at Holy Spirit and St. Patrick parishes in Saskatoon. Since 2008, Fr. Stefano has been serving in a number of teaching and administrative capacities at Newman Theological College in Edmonton. Before that, from 2002-2008, he was Assistant Professor at St. Joseph Catholic College at the University of Alberta in Edmonton.

Fr. Michael Dechant, OMI, Pastor  at St. Philip Neri, Saskatoon:    Fr. Mike is presently serving as the priest chaplain at Holy Cross High School and will continue in this role as he assumes the role of Pastor at St. Philip Neri.  



Fr. Clement Arthur Boachie, Pastor at St. Peter the Apostle and St. Michael, Saskatoon:  Fr. Clement is from the Diocese of Konongo-Mampong in Ghana. Fr. Clement has been ordained for 19 years and has served several parishes as a Pastor.  (Arrival and start date to be confirmed.)


Fr. Habila Musa, Pastor at St. Theresa, Rosetown, St. Theresa, Beechy, Immaculate Heart of Mary, Elrose:  Fr. Habila is from the Diocese of Kano, Nigeria and has been ordained for 14 years. (Arrival and start date to be confirmed.)



Fr. Richmond Diala, Associate Pastor at St. Paul’s Co-Cathedral, Saskatoon: Fr. Richmond will also continue to provide hospital chaplaincy. Fr. Richmond is from Nigeria.


Fr. Peter Olisa, Associate Pastor at St. Augustine, Humboldt, St. Scholastica, Burr, Holy Trinity, Pilger, Assumption of our Lady, Marysburg:  Fr. Peter has served for the last two years as Associate Pastor at Holy Spirit Parish in Saskatoon.


Fr. Nestor Silva, OMI, Associate Pastor at St. Patrick’s Parish, Saskatoon:  Fr. Nestor will also be providing chaplaincy to the greater Filipino community in Saskatoon.


Fr. Bill Stang, OMI , Associate Pastor at St. Philip Neri, Saskatoon.


Fr. John Abban Bonsu, Associate Pastor at Holy Spirit Parish, Saskatoon.  Fr. John is from the Diocese of Konongo-Mampong in Ghana and has been ordained for nine years and worked as a Pastor and teacher. (Arrival and start date to be confirmed.)



Fr. David Tumback has most recently served as Pastor to the community of Holy Family at its original location and now at the Cathedral since July 2006.  He will spend the next year on sabbatical. 


Fr. Emmanuel Mbah has served the parish clusters of Rosetown, Elrose and Beechy since  December 2012. He has recently been accepted to Andrews University in Michigan to pursue a doctoral degree in psychology. 


Fr. Michael Yaremko has served as the Associate Pastor in the Humboldt cluster since his ordination in June 2017. Fr. Michael will be taking an extended leave. 



Fr. Kevin McGee:  Catholic Board of Education Support and Spiritual Direction Support, Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools. Fr. Kevin is also Pastor at St. Augustine Parish in Saskatoon, and serves the diocese as Vicar-General.


Fr. Stefano Penna:  Teacher & Staff Support and Development for Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools.  (Fr. Stefano will also serve as pastor at St. Paul's Co-Cathedral in Saskatoon, as announced above.)


Fr. Michael Dechant, OMI:  Teacher & Staff Retreats for Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools. (Fr. Michael will also serve as pastor of St. Philip Neri in Saskatoon, as noted above, and is priest chaplain at Holy Cross Catholic High School.)



Fr. Iheanyi Enwerem, OP, has served the parishes of St. Peter the Apostle and St. Michael in Saskatoon since July 2013. After serving in the Diocese of Saskatoon for 10 years, he looks forward to celebrating the 40th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood on July 8, before returning to his home community in Nigeria. 



Fr. Dominic Boateng Andoh was called back by his Bishop and returned to Ghana on April 3, 2018.


Fr. Bruce McAllister has recently retired from the Archdiocese of Vancouver and moved to Saskatoon. Fr. McAllister will be available for ministry assistance as of August 2018.


Welcome to Fr. Fawzi Apro Hanna, who has been appointed by Most Reverend Bawai Soro (Chaldean bishop of Canada) as the pastor at Sacred Heart Chaldean Church in Saskatoon, effective April 12, 2018.



Jarrod Teichreb is finishing his first year of studies at St. Joseph’s Seminary and will be receiving a summer placement prior to return to the seminary in the fall.


Van Tam (Luke) Tran will be entering seminary at Christ the King Seminary in Mission, BC this fall.  He is currently living at St. Patrick’s Parish rectory in Saskatoon.
