Diocesan Pastoral Plan

Priority #6 of the Diocesan Pastoral Plan:

Move from Maintenance to Mission

Helping parishes proclaim Christ in everything  / Orienting our parishes and church organizations from bureaucracy to pastoral effectiveness

“Go in peace. The mission you are on is under the eye of the LORD.” – Judges 18:6

• Training and support to Parish Pastoral Councils and Finance Councils – pastoral planning

• Training and support to parish ministries: children, youth, adults, seniors

• Addressing features and challenges of rural parishes/communities; foster awareness of and relationship with rural parishes

• Parish and diocesan re-structuring as an experience of the paschal mystery (New Pentecost versus dying and death)

• Support and develop parish employees and volunteers

• Best financial and administrative practices ‘tool kit’ for parishes

“Thus I make it my ambition to proclaim the Good News.” – Romans 15:20

Bishop Mark Hagemoen speaking about pastoral planning at a “Town Hall” meeting at St. Mary Parish in Wynyard.

“Have the same mind and heart as that of Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 2:5

Those who with God’s help have welcomed Christ’s call and freely responded to it are urged on by love of Christ to proclaim the Good News everywhere in the world. This treasure, received from the apostles, has been faithfully guarded by their successors. All Christ’s faithful are called to hand it on from generation to generation, by professing the faith, by living it in fraternal sharing, and by celebrating it in liturgy and prayer. – Catechism of the Catholic Church #3
