SUMMARY:CHRISM MASS
DESCRIPTION:Join Bishop Mark Hagemoen and priests from across the diocese for the annual diocesan Mass of Chrism at 7 p.m. on Tuesday\, March 31 at the Cathedral of the Holy Family\, 123 Nelson Road (corner of Attridge Drive and Forestry Farm Park Drive)\, Saskatoon. \n\n\n\nThe Chrism Mass will also be live-streamed at https://saskatoonmass.com. \n\n\n\nAt this joyful celebration the bishop will bless the sacred oils for use in sacraments in the year ahead. The priests in the diocese of Saskatoon will also renew their commitment to priestly ministry. A reception will follow Mass. \n\n\n\nThe sacred oils to be blessed are: \n\n\n\n\nOil of Catechumens (OC): This oil\, sometimes referred to as Oil of Salvation\, is used to anoint catechumens (those to be baptized). It is a sign of belonging: marking us as members of the Body of Christ.\n\n\n\nOil of the Sick/Infirm (OI): This oil is used in the Anointing of the Sick to bring comfort and support and to pray for healing.\n\n\n\nSacred Chrism (SC): This oil includes a sweet-smelling balsam perfume\, added during the blessing prayers at the Chrism Mass. Sacred Chrism is used at the celebration of baptism\, confirmation\, the ordination of priests and bishops\, and for the dedication of churches and altars. Anointing with this oil signifies abundance of grace and dedicated service to God. The word Christ means “anointed one.”\n\n\n\n\n* Sing with the Diocesan Choir at Chrism Mass: All singers are welcome to join the diocesan choir for the 7 p.m. Chrism Mass at the Cathedral of the Holy Family. The choir will meet at the cathedral at 5 p.m. March 31 to rehearse for the 7 p.m. Mass. E-mail shaun.bzdel@gmail.com for further details and to RSVP.
