DESCRIPTION:Join with St. Thomas More College (STM) in celebrating 100 years of the Newman Centre and 90 years of STM. Inspired by the vision of St. John Henry Newman\, STM grew out of a Newman Club formed by Catholic laity and students in 1926. Alumni of STM and all USask Colleges who found a home at STM are invited to celebrate at these 100th anniversary events! All events are at STM\, 1437 College Drive\, Saskatoon. O’Donnell Auditorium.  Dr. Michael Higgins will present a lecture from his research titled\, “Illuminating Newman: Personal Reflections on an Enduring Presence.” Dr. Higgins has authored and co-authored several books including one on John Henry Newman titled The Church Needs the Laity: the Wisdom of John Henry Newman. Currently\, Dr. Higgins serves as the Basilian Distinguished Fellow of Contemporary Catholic Thought at the University of St. Michael’s College in Toronto\, and the President and Vice-Chancellor Emeritus of St. Jerome’s University.\n\n\n\nOct. 2: College tours from 1:30 – 4 p.m.\, meet in STM Cafeteria.\n\n\n\nOct. 2: Newman Coffeehouse at 7 p.m. in STM Cafeteria.\n\n\n\nOct. 3: College tours from 2 – 3 p.m.\, meet in STM Cafeteria.\n\n\n\nOct. 3: Newman-STM Anniversary Homecoming Celebration: The STM community celebrates the contributions of alumni\, starting at 4 pm in the auditorium\, followed by a banquet. At this event\, STM will present Distinguished Alumni and St. Thomas More Medal awards.\n\n\n\nOct. 4: Mass\, Communion Brunch & Book Launch: Join Mass at 11a.m. in the Chapel with Fr. Ron Griffin\, CSB\, as celebrant. Then gather in the Shannon Library for brunch and the launch of the book\, The Basilians\, 1822-2022: Adapting to a Changing Church and Changing Worldby Fr. Ron Griffin\, CSB\, and Dr. Michael Hayden.
