Dealing with Vicarious Trauma and Compassion Fatigue

* Dealing with vicarious trauma and compassion fatigue:  For those who minister to others — priests, lay church workers, nurses, parents – years of caring for other peoples’ struggles and problems can lead to something known as vicarious trauma, sometimes called compassion fatigue. The diocese of Saskatoon has invited Lorie Harrison, a registered professional counsellor with Legacy Ridge, to introduce some tools on how to spots and manage vicarious trauma, including the development of resiliency skills. The presentation will take place at Queen’s House, 601 Taylor Street W., Saskatoon at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 29. The evening is free, however, to assist in planning, please register with Andrea at (306) 659-5831 or
