Rite of Election - Bishop Mark Hagemoen presides at diocesan celebration - includes Mass this year

The Rite of Election will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 18, 2018 at the Cathedral of the Holy Family, 123 Nelson Road, Saskatoon: Everyone is welcome to this diocesan celebration, with Bishop Mark Hagemoen presiding.

Please note that for the first time in many years, this year's Rite of Election will also include celebration of the Sunday Eucharist for the First Sunday of Lent.

The Rite of Election is a step in the RCIA process – the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults – involving those in our diocese who are journeying toward baptism at the Easter Vigil. Bishop Mark Hagemoen will bless the catechumens as they enroll their names in the Book of the Elect and begin a Lenten journey of purification and enlightenment.

"This step is called election because the acceptance made by the Church is founded on the election of God, in whose name the Church acts." - RCIA 119

Please join us for this diocesan celebration on the first Sunday of Lent and at the reception following the Rite.
