Red Wednesday – praying for persecuted Christians
November 17, 2021 @ 11:15 am - 12:00 pm
Red Wednesday — marked this year on Wednesday, Nov 17, 2021 — is an event aimed at highlighting the persecution and injustice suffered by Christians, while promoting respect and tolerance between people of different religions.
Mass with Bishop Mark Hagemoen of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Saskatoon will be live-streamed at 11:15 a.m. Nov. 17 – it will be posted that day to pray live or later at https://saskatoonmass.com
Currently, 327 million Christians live in a country where there is religious persecution. Another 178 million live in a country where there is discrimination. It makes 505 million Christians who are at risk. Although it is difficult to keep a precise count, it is estimated that 75 percent of religiously motivated violence around the globe is perpetrated against Christians.
Please join in prayer — other suggested actions on this day to show solidarity with persecuted Christians include wearing red, lighting up the exterior of churches and other buildings in red, holding prayer services or celebrating Mass, etc.
