Pilgrimage in honour of St. Joseph at Leipzig

PILGRIMAGE TO ST. PASCHAL CHURCH, LEIPZIG, SK: A pilgrimage to mark the Year of Saint Joseph will take place at the large statue of St. Joseph near the rural parish at Leipzig, SK on Sunday, Aug. 8 with the Sacrament of Reconciliation celebrated starting at 3 p.m. and outdoor Mass celebrated by Bishop Mark Hagemoen starting at 4 p.m.
This year of St. Joseph is declared by Pope Francis to mark the 150th anniversary |of the declaration of St. Joseph as the Patron of the Universal Church.
On Sunday, Aug. 8 there will be a Mass celebrated with Bishop Mark Hagemoen, along with the St. Joseph Colony priests, at the statue of St. Joseph at Paschal. Reconciliation will be at 3:00pm followed by Mass at 4:00pm.
All are welcome to attend. Please bring a chair and be prepared for all kinds of weather.
The first Mass was said at the original site of St Paschal parish which is at the old cemetery site 3 miles north and 2 miles west of Leipzig. From 1905 to 1913 the church, rectory and cemetery were at this site. In 1913 the present cemetery along the grid road was started and the parish moved to Leipzig. A church and rectory were built. The original church burnt down in about 1929 and the present church was built. Only the basement could be afforded with the depression in the 30’s.
The St Joseph Statue was erected in the mid 1950’s by the Knights of Columbus at its present site which is 3 miles north of Leipzig.
