“Islam, Peace and Justice Conference” – STM

Irene and Doug Schmeiser Centre for Faith, Reason, Peace, and Justice at STM presents “Islam, Peace and Justice Conference” to be held Sept. 21 and 22 at St. Thomas More Colletge (STM) in-person and online. Transcending worn-out stereotypes about Muslims, this conference emphasizes Islamic principles fostering resilient traditions of peace and justice.

Keynote 7:00 p.m. Sept. 21 is “Islamic Perspectives on Peacemaking and Co-Existence” with Asma Afsaruddin, Professor of Islamic Studies, Indiana University. Keynote 5 p.m. Sept. 22 is “Make Jihad Not War: Decolonizing the Law of Violence and the Violence of Law” with Azeezah Kanji, legal academic and scholar with the Noor Cultural Centre, Toronto.
