* The Catholic Centre will be closed May 8 – The Catholic Pastoral Centre for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Saskatoon, located on the second floor of the Cathedral of the Holy Family, 123 Nelson Road, Saskatoon, will be closed for a Staff Retreat on Thursday, May 8, 2025. The Catholic Pastoral Centre will return to normal hours on Friday, May 9: open weekdays from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
* The Micah Mission “Remember Me” Campaign will be launched Sunday, May 4, with an invitation from Bishop Mark Hagemoen for parishes to participate as a way to remember and to pray for those affected by the justice system and to consider donating to assist with costs of programs and services. Micah Mission works to transform the lives of incarcerated individuals and those formerly incarcerated, and their families, promoting friendship as a vital part of community restoration, and offering those who have caused harm an opportunity to find new life by taking personal responsibility; valuing personal growth and accountability; and encouraging collaboration and reintegration rather than coercion and isolation. * Dedication and Blessing for a Jubilee Tree of Hope will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 31 on the grounds of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 114 Kingsmere Place, Saskatoon. The Jubilee Tree of Hope is planted near the pro-life monument at Holy Spirit Parish, to remind us of the unique suffering that parents experience when losing a child at any age of the child’s life. As people of hope, you are invited to join the dedication for prayer, remembrance, and fellowship. Simple refreshments will be provided. Cathedrals: The Cathedral of the Holy Family, 23 Nelson Road, Saskatoon, and/or St. Paul’s Co-Cathedral, 720 Spadina Cres. E, Saskatoon, are designated as sacred sites to visit for the Jubilee Year indulgence. To visit one of these active parish sites as part of obtaining a Jubilee indulgence:
- Review the Mass and liturgical schedule on the parish websites.
- For individual visits, it is not necessary to alert the parish about your planned pilgrimage if you are simply attending a regularly scheduled Mass or confession time.
- Contact the parish before making any plans for group visits outside of regularly scheduled Mass and confession times, or for special arrangements.
- A pilgrimage group wishing to celebrate Mass and/or confessions will be asked to bring their own priest to celebrate, and at a time agreed to by the pastor.
St. Peter’s Abbey: The Benedictine Abbey at Muenster, SK is also designated by the bishop as a sacred site to visit for the Jubilee Year indulgence. * Devotion to the Holy Face of Jesus – A gathering to pray, reflect and meditate upon the Holy Face of Jesus is held at7:45 p.m. every first Tuesday of the month at St. Paul Co-Cathedral, 720 Spadina Crescent East in Saskatoon, with the next gathering at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, May 6. The devotion consists of the Chaplet to the Holy Face, and prayers of reparation, and takes about 30 minutes. Participants typically stay afterwards for questions, shared stories, and personal meditation. Everyone is welcome.
* The annual March for Life at the Regina Legislature will be held Thursday May 8, beginning with the Rosary at 10:45 am at the Holy Rosary Cathedral in Regina, followed by Mass. The march to the Legislature will begin after Mass and the short program at the Legislature will begin at 1:15 pm. Transportation is provided for anyone who is unable to walk the 2-km march. Hope on the Horizon – Summer hands-on missionary training in Vancouver for young adults – Catholic Street Missionaries (CSM) is a Catholic charitable organization based in the Archdiocese of Vancouver which provides emotional and spiritual support to the abandoned of our cities, including trafficked people, the addicted, and the homeless, while fostering a zeal for Christ in young adults by putting the message of the Gospel into action. A CSM “Hope on the Horizon” summer program will bring together young adults, ages 19-30, for a six-week homeless outreach and leadership program from July 14 to Aug. 22 in Vancouver. Participants live in community: learning, praying, and serving together, bringing Jesus’ message and compassion to the marginalized, growing in faith and helping the homeless with training, mentorship and support. Advocacy update from Catholic Health Association (CHAS) of Saskatchewan – The Christian Medical and Dental Association (CMDA) is working on Saskatchewan advocacy efforts related to medically-provided euthanasia, known as “Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD).” Alongside local healthcare providers and leading advocacy associations, CMDA and CHAS are advocating for safeguards that protect both healthcare professionals and vulnerable patients. The Catholic Bishops of Saskatchewan have recently endorsed this initiative. As policies related to provision of medically-provided euthanasia expand, CMDA wants to ensure that:
- Healthcare providers have the right to decline participation in medically-provided euthanasia without facing pressure or professional consequences.
- Patients have access to meaningful alternative care options and are not subjected to unsolicited offers.

UCWLC scholarships – The Ukrainian Catholic Women’s League of Canada offers two scholarships to post-secondary students: the Vera Buczynsky Ukrainian Language Scholarship and the Mary Dyma Ukrainian Studies Scholarship.
