Summer pilgrimages continue: Mount Carmel July 21

Prairie pilgrimages are held each year, with the faithful celebrating at sites throughout the province, including several in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Saskatoon.

Mount Carmel Pilgrimage – Sunday, July 21, 2024

The picturesque Mount Carmel pilgrimage site is located about 5.2 km north of Carmel, SK (west of Humboldt).

  • 9:45 a.m. – An Hour with Mary – Marian hymns, Rosary, Sacrament of Reconciliation);
  • 10:45 a.m. – An Hour with God’s family – Celebration of Sunday Eucharist with Bishop Mark Hagemoen presiding, blessing of the fields, blessing of the sick
  • 12:00 noon – An Hour with Our Diocesan Family – lunch (concession available) and quiet time with the Blessed Sacrament
  • 1:30 p.m. – An Hour with the Lord – Stations of the Cross (in groups), Blessing with the Blessed Sacrament

Bus to the Carmel Pilgrimage –  The Knights of Columbus are offering a bus service from Saskatoon to travel to the Mount Carmel Pilgrimage site (east of Humboldt) on Sunday, July 21, 2024. Travel time one way is approx. 1.5 hours. A 50 passenger bus (First Student) will be leaving Holy Family Cathedral, 123 Nelson Road, Saskatoon at 8:30 am, returning at 4:30 pm. The cost will be $15per person. $25 per family. There will be room for lawn chairs, coolers etc. Payment must be made at time of booking by calling/ texting Garry Maier at 306 221-5893 emai Please book as soon as possible to ensure a seat.  Payment can be made by etransfer, cash, cc or cheque.

St. Laurent Pilgrimage – July 15-16 / Aug. 15 / Sept. 8, 2024

Our Lady of Lourdes Shrine at St. Laurent, SK

The Shrine is located 12 km directly east of Duck Lake on grid road; or take the road from the statue landmark on Highway 11.

  • 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. – Workshop on how to pray the Rosary in Cree (Log Church)
  • 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 v – Holy Hour-Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, Chaplet of Mercy, and prayer
  • 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 v – Speaker – Bishop Stephen Hero, Diocese of Prince Albert
  • 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. – Supper
  • 7:00 p.m. Examination of Conscience followed by confession until 8:00 p.m.
  • 7:30 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. -Marian Time of Prayer – Scriptural Rosary, music
  • 8:30 p.m. Celebration of the Eucharist with Bishop Stephen Hero, Priests, and Deacons
  • 9:45 p.m. Torchlight procession to the Arch for the blessing then to the Log Church for Adoration until 11:00 p.m.

  • 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.  Mass in French with Bishop Emeritus Thévenot M.Afr. at the Grotto
  • 11:00 a.m. Mass with Bishop Stephen Hero, Priests, and Deacons at the Grotto
  • 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. Lunch
  • 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.  – Speaker – Bishop Stephen Hero, Diocese of Prince Albert
  • 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.  Anointing of the Sick at the Grotto

  • 7:30 p.m. – Marian devotion at the Grotto
  • 8:00 p.m. – Celebration of the Eucharist with Bishop Stephen Hero, Priests, and Deacons
  • 9:15 p.m. – Torchlight procession to the Arch for the blessing then to the Log Church for Adoration until 11:00 p.m.

September 8 – Birthday of Blessed Virgin Mary (Click here for Poster)

  • 6:00 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. – Priests available for confessions at the Grotto
  • 6:15 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. – Rosary / bouquet offering at the Grotto (everyone is welcome to bring a rose for Mary, or available at the Candle Booth for $2 each on a first-come, first-serve basis
  • 7:00 p.m. – Celebration of the Eucharist with Bishop Stephen Hero, Priests, and Deacons at the Grotto
  • 8:00 p.m. – Birthday cake and coffee at the Food Booth

Saint Philomena Walking Pilgrimage (to the Rama Pilgrimage) – Aug. 11-14, 2024

The Saint Philomena Walking Pilgrimage is a supported walk; rest stops and meals are provided and a trailer carries camping supplies between nightly stops. Pilgrims are invited to join in all of the walk, a few steps, or anything in between. The pilgrimage starts at St Mary Parish in Yorkton and ends at Our Lady of Lourdes Shrine at Rama on Aug. 14 for the Vigil of the Assumption of the Blessed Version Mary.

  • 3:00 p.m. – Chaplet of Divine Mercy – Grotto
  • 3:15 p.m. – Stations of the Cross

Pilgrimage to Millennium Pro-Life Cross – Sept. 8, 2024

The Millennium Pro-Life Cross is located 10.8 km northeast of Aberdeen on Highway 41.

The 22nd annual pilgrimage begins at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, with a living rosary and other prayers. Keynote speaker is Most Rev. Bishop Michael Smolinski, CsSR, of the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of Saskatoon. Fellowship and food to follow. (Bring your own rosary and lawn chair or umbrella.)

  • 3:00 p.m. – Praying of the Rosary, walking from the outdoor prayer house to the foot of the Grotto
  • 3:30 p.m. Mass outdoors at the Grotto

Cudworth Eparchial Pilgrimage was held June 15-16, 2024.

Shrine of Our Lady of Sorrows, Cudworth, SK

The Shrine of Our Lady of Sorrows is a pilgrimage site in the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of Saskatoon, located one kilometre south of the turn off to Cudworth on Highway 2 (the entrance road splits into three with the middle road leading to the shrine.)

Sunday, June 16:

Mass will also be celebrated at the Holy Rosary site on several Saturday evenings over the summer at 7:30 p.m., including: June 29, July 27, Aug. 10, Aug. 24 and Sept. 7.

Donations in honour of God’s people, priests, sisters, pioneers and descendants are much appreciated.
